Description

This course is suitable for learners who have completed an Improvers course at On Course South West or at a similar institution. It may also suit a learner who has returned to learning French after a break or someone who has lived abroad and is confident in common tourist situations and with using present, past and future tenses.  

Who is this course for?
Learners who are over 19 years of age, and possess existing knowledge and understanding of French.

Entry requirements
This course is suitable for learners who have previously completed a Beginners course in French with On Course South West or similar or learners who have previously studied the language and wish to refresh the basics and build on their knowledge base. Course aims
You will cover the following topics: - Enquire about a holiday home rental. - Describe a property. - Read simple property descriptions. You will identify specialised vocabulary in the context of rentals and properties and employ high-frequency expressions. You will be able to add adjectives, including irregular adjectives, to descriptions and enhance these with adverbs (e.g., 'rather', 'quite', 'completely'). They will be able to use an exclamation (e.g., 'What!') in French to express an opinion

How will the course be delivered?
This is a practical course and the sessions will include tutor-led demonstrations, learner-led group activities, instruction and repetition. These will form part of the delivery together with one-to-one support as required

Will I need to study or practise outside the classroom?
You will be expected to review your notes between lessons to ensure maximum benefit from your course. It is always useful to practise your skills between sessions. Your tutor may encourage home learning, or independent research.

How will I know I'm making progress?
Your tutor will set objectives for each session and give feedback on how you are progressing. You will agree personal targets as part of your Individual Learning Plan (ILP), and you will review your targets throughout the course to check your own progress.

What will I need for the course?
Please bring a notepad, and pen to each session. You may wish to bring a file for any handouts. A laptop with internet access is required for completion of coursework and home learning outside of the classroom. Please note that food and drink are not permitted to be consumed in the classroom. You may bring a bottle of water with a lid with you if required.
