Who is this course for?
The qualification provides an introduction to teaching and aims to meet the needs of a range of trainee teachers, such as: Individuals not currently in a teaching or training role. Individuals currently teaching and training. Individuals currently working as assessors who wish to achieve a qualification that provides an introduction to teaching.

Entry requirements
You should have level 2 qualifcations in English and Maths.

Course aims
The course will cover the following topics: Understanding the teaching role and responsibilities in education and training. Understand ways to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. Understand the relationships between teachers and other professionals in education and training. Understand inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training. Understand ways to create an inclusive learning environment. Be able to plan inclusive teaching and learning. Be able to deliver inclusive teaching and learning. Be able to evaluate the delivery of inclusive teaching and learning. Understand types and methods of assessment used in education and training. Understand how to involve learners and others in the assessment process. Understand the role and use of constructive feedback in the assessment process. Understand requirements for record keeping in education and training.

Qualification
In this course you will achieve the NCFE Level 3 Award in Education and Training. Assessment will be carried out through assignments and observations of teaching.

How will the course be delivered?
This is a mainly theory course with some practical aspects.

How will I know I'm making progress?
During the first session, your tutor will discuss your goals and current level in relation to the course. Based on this assessment, you will agree individual targets which you will record in your individual learning plan (ILP). You and your tutor will review your targets regularly to ensure that you are making progress; these will be written in your individual learning plan.

Will I need to study or practise outside the classroom?
There is a considerable amount of work for you to do in your own time for this qualification. Please allow a minimum of 4-6 hours per week for this.

What will I need to take to the course?
Please bring a pen, notepad and a file for your hand-outs. Access to a digital device outside the classroom is essential for completing classroom projects.
