Description

During this course you will complete a project of your choice after consultation with your tutor, which will demonstrate your range of carpentry skills. You will be able to fully understand health and safety requirements and evaluate different stages of your project throughout the course.

- Skilled woodworking joints.
- Using a mix of timbers and select appropriate timbers for the project.
- Understand the range of finishes such as wax, stains and oils.
- Using a range of tools.

Entry Requirements
You must have completed the Carpentry Beginners course or have good knowledge of woodworking and all the basic types of joints.

Course Intent
During this course you will complete a project of your choice after consultation with your tutor, which will demonstrate your range of carpentry skills. How will the course be delivered?
This is a practical course and the sessions will include tutor-led demonstrations, learner-led activities, instruction and repetition. These will form part of the delivery together with one-to-one support as required.

Will I need to study or practise outside the classroom?
You will be expected to practise skills and prepare and plan for future sessions. Your tutor will give you guidance on group and individual topics.

How will I know I’m making progress?
Your tutor will set objectives for each session and give feedback on how you are progressing. You will agree personal targets as part of your Individual Learning Plan (ILP), and you will review your targets throughout the course to check your own progress.

What will I need for the course?
- You will need suitable clothing and closed in footwear. - There are additional resources required for the course. Information will be provided at course induction. - Please bring a pen and notepad to each session.
