The purpose of this qualification is to increase learner's knowledge and awareness of children and young people's mental health.

By completing the qualification, learners will develop knowledge of:

*children and young people's mental health in context
* mental health problems commonly associated with children and young people
* the impact of mental ill-health on children and young people
* support available to maintain mental wellbeing in children and young people.

Who is this course for?
19+, and must have lived in the EU for at least 3 years. Minimum of Entry 3 in English. An interest in children and young peple's mental health is desired.

Entry requirements
There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification.

Qualification
NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health. Learners must achieve all of the mandatory units: *Unit 01 Understand children and young people’s mental health in context; * Unit 02 Understand factors which may affect children and young people’s mental health; * Unit 03 Understand children and young people’s mental health concerns; * Unit 04 Understand the impact of children and young people’s mental health concerns; * Unit 05 Understand how to support children and young people with mental health concerns. All units will be individually internally assessed.

How will the course be delivered?
This is an E-Learning course and is exclusively delivered via an online learning, self-study programme. You will be enrolled for an online learning platform and will work independently through the units and materials provided.

How will I know I'm making progress?
You will be continually assessed and supported with informative developmental feedback throughout the length of the course. Our tutors use past papers, exam questions, mark schemes and examiners' reports to make sure that you have the very best support in developing your skills and confidence towards to the final exams.

Will I need to study or practise outside the classroom?
There is a considerable amount of work for you to do in your own time for this qualification. Please allow a minimum of 2 hours per week for this.

What will I need to take to the course?
A laptop or desktop computer with internet access is required for completion of coursework and home learning.

Progression
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to: *Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health; * Level 3 Award in the Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005; * Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (England); * Level 3 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
