Whether your a beginner or had some experience of carpentry this course is for you. You will learn a range of joints and how to use hand tools safely.  

Material fee
Material Fee £20. The material fees cover glue and sundries. You will be required to provide your own timber.

Who is this course for?
Learners over 19 who possess a keen interest in Carpentry from beginners to more advanced ability.

Entry requirements
There are no specific requirements for this short course but as it is mixed ability if you have some carpentry experience or are a total novice this course is suitable.

Course aims
This carpentry course is designed to accommodate a range of skill levels and experience, from beginners to intermediate learners. The course will provide a comprehensive introduction to the tools, materials, and techniques used in carpentry. The course will be delivered through practical sessions, with an emphasis on hands-on learning. You will learn how to read and interpret measure and cut materials accurately. You will also learn about the different types of wood and their uses, as well as the characteristics of various finishes and coatings. Throughout the course, you will work on the basic joints and then progress onto personalised projects. You will be encouraged to work independently, as well as collaborate with other learners to build your teamwork and communication skills. By the end of the course, you will have gained a solid foundation in carpentry, including knowledge of basic joinery, tool use and maintenance, and safety practices. You will have completed several projects that demonstrate your newly acquired skills, and will have the confidence and ability to tackle future carpentry projects with ease.

How will the course be delivered?
This is a practical course and the sessions will include tutor-led demonstrations, learner-led activities, instruction and repetition. These will form part of the delivery together with one-to-one support as required.

Will I need to study of pracrise outside of the classroom?
It is always useful to practise your skills between sessions.

How will I know Im making progress?
Your tutor will set objectives for each session and give feedback on how you are progressing. You will agree personal targets as part of your Individual Learning Plan (ILP), and you will review your targets throughout the course to check your own progress.

What will I need for the course?
- You will need suitable clothing and closed in footwear. -Some wood will be required after the first session. The tutor will discuss this. - There are additional resources required for the course. Information will be provided at course induction. - Please bring a pen and notepad to each session.
