Description

It's never too late to start learning a new language. Learning can improve your chances of landing a good job or to advance in your career, it can also give you an insight into other cultures. You will be more prepared and confident to travel the world and explore other people's ways of living. This course will start you on your journey. This course is aimed at anyone who would like to learn conversational Spanish buildiing on existing skills.  

Who is this course for?
Learners who are over 19 years of age and possess a keen interest in developing their Spanish and have some prior knowledge of this subject.

Entry requirements
This course is suitable for learners who have previously completed a Beginners course in Spanish with On Course South West or similar or learners who have previously studied the language and wish to refresh the basics and build on their knowledge base. To confirm your level please see the Languages Self-Assessment tool in the downloads section of our website.

Course Intent
You will cover the following topics: - Enquiring about local facilities - Asking for advice on what to see and do in an area - Giving advice on what to see and do You will use a variety of questioning techniques to ask about local facilities (e.g., ‘do you know if’, ‘is it possible to’) in Italian. You will use modal verbs (e.g., ‘can’, ‘must’, ‘want’) with infinitives to both ask about and state what there is to do in an area. You will understand how to use alternative forms of ‘must’ (e.g., ‘it is necessary’) when giving advice. You will be able to form a negative statement when using two verbs.

How will the course be delivered?
You will be working with your tutor and other students on a weekly basis, face to face.

Will I need to study or practise outside the classroom?
It is always useful to practise your skills between sessions. Your tutor may set some home learning for you to practise.

How will I know I’m making progress?
Your tutor will set objectives for each session and give feedback on how you are progressing. You will agree personal targets as part of your Individual Learning Plan (ILP), and you will review your targets throughout the course to check your own progress.

What will I need for the course?
Please bring a notepad, and pen to each session. You may wish to bring a file for any handouts. A laptop with internet access is required for completion of coursework and home learning outside of the classroom. Please note that food and drink are not permitted to be consumed in the classroom. You may bring a bottle of water with a lid with you if required.
