Description

This short course uses small group work and general group discussions to introduce the topic of children with challenging behaviour. We will seek to explore possible explanations for this behaviour and method of managing it. This course incorporates discussions around high profile cases of children's behaviour.

Over 19s, with an interest in learning more about children with challenging behaviour.

Course aims
The aim of this course is to provide learners with a basic understanding of the factors that infuence children and young people's behaviour. We will explore real life case studies of children. *understand what is meant by 'challenging' behaviour * identify a range of factors that influence children's behaviour * demonstrate an understanding of methods of behaviour modification ('management')

How will the course be delivered?
You will be working with your tutor and other learners online via Microsoft Teams.

Will I need to study or practise outside the classroom?
You will be expected to review your notes between lessons to ensure maximum benefit from your course. It’s always good to practise your skills, your tutor may encourage home research

How will I know I'm making progress?
Your tutor will set objectives for the session and give feedback on how you are progressing. You will agree personal targets as part of your Individual Learning Plan (ILP), and you will review your targets and the start and end of the session.

What will I need for the course?
Please bring a pen and notepad and a laptop with internet connection.
