This course provides the learner with an awareness of a range of neurological conditions that fall under the neurodiversity umbrella.  

Who is this course for?
Learners who are over 19 years of age and possess a keen interest in learning more about neurodiversity and learning difficulties such as ADHD and Autism. Whether that is a personal interest, or to help parents/carers to understand their children; childcare or education professionals working with children and young people, or workers to understand their adult workforce.

Entry Requirements
There are no fomal entry requirements for this course.

You will be invited to undertake an initial assessment to ascertain your levels of English and maths prior to entry on this course of study.

Course Aims
To provide the learner with an introduction to neurodiversity to include: -Define and explain the concept of neurodiversity. -Identify and describe different neurological conditions that fall under the neurodiversity umbrella. -Understand and respect the experiences of neurodivergent individuals. -Develop strategies to create an inclusive environment for neurodivergent individuals. -Understand how to tap into the unique talents, abilities, and attributes of neurodivergent individuals in the workplace.

How will the course be delivered?
You will be working with your tutor and other students face to face.

What will I need to bring?
Please bring a notepad, and pen to each session. You may wish to bring a file for any handouts. A laptop with internet access is required for completion of coursework and home learning outside of the classroom. Please note that food and drink are not permitted to be consumed in the classroom. You may bring a bottle of water with a lid with you if required.

Will I need to study or practise outide the classroom?
Yes. You will be encouraged to review your notes between lessons to ensure maximum benefit from your course. It is always useful to practise your skills between sessions. Your tutor may encourage home learning, or independent research.

How will I know I am progressing?
Your tutor will set objectives for the session and give feedback on how you are progressing. You will agree personal targets as part of your Individual Learning Plan (ILP), and you will review your targets and the start and end of the session.
