You will need to take an online initial assessment to understand your levels of English and Maths prior to entry on this course.
Entry Requirements
Learners will be required to be in a placement for a minimum of one whole day or two half days a week. It is suitable for all those who are working in a supervised or voluntary role supporting pupils learning, as a teaching assistant within primary, secondary or special schools as well as colleges.
Course Intent
This qualification will enable learners to develop the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and learning in school or college environments. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people's development, supporting positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships.

How will the course be delivered?
You will be working with your tutor on a one to one basis, who will provide you with tutorials. This will involve regular phone meetings and observations within your workplace. You will be using the One File e-learning system to build your portfolio, we will supply you with a login, password and training.
Will I need to study or practise outside the classroom?
It is always useful to practise your skills between sessions. There is a considerable amount of work for you to do in your own time for this qualification. Please allow a minimum of 3 hours per week for this. There will be formal assignments which may include essays, research, or preparing displays.
How will I know I’m making progress?
Your tutor will set objectives for each session and give feedback on how you are progressing. You will agree personal targets as part of your Individual Learning Plan (ILP), and you will review your targets throughout the course to check your own progress.
Deadlines will be set for assignments and written work will be assessed regularly.
You will be creating an electronic portfolio which will allow you to independently monitor your progress.
What will I need for the course?
You will need either a computer with Google Chrome or a Smart device (phone/tablet) with Google Chrome and the Google Meet apps installed and access to Wifi.
